Wednesday morning’s rain that flash froze on roads around the Lakes Region leads to a fatal traffic crash in Taney County.
According to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Highway EE near Rockaway Beach when a pick-up truck was stranded due to black ice on the road. The driver, a 58-year-old man from Merriam Woods, got out of his vehicle when a SUV driven by a 54-year-old Rockaway Beach woman lost control on the ice and hit the man and his vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Taney County Coroner Tony Mullen.
This is the third fatality worked by Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2026.
