Body Found After Fire in Monett

An investigation is underway into a fire at a house in Monett where a deceased male was discovered in the basement.

Officials tell Ozarks First that the Monett Fire Department responded to the report of the fire on 2nd Street Tuesday afternoon and discovered the body while battling the blaze. The identity of the victim has not been released. 

The State Fire Marshall is working with police and fire officials in this investigation.
