Branson Mayor Larry Milton has declared the latest special day honoring a vocal group for their contributions to country music and American culture.
Milton declared Nov. 9, 2023, as “Oak Ridge Boys Day” in the city of Branson.
“The country and gospel quartet known as the Oak Ridge Boys, deriving their name from the town in East Tennessee where they originated, would go on to achieve national acclaim before ultimately ending up a staple in Branson’s performing industry,” Milton said in his proclamation. “Long after many of the original Branson stars had passed on or found retirement suitable for the end of their careers, the Oak Ridge Boys have kept national attention on Branson with their annual performances.”
