City of Branson honors police veteran for 30 years of service

The city of Branson hosted a celebration gathering for a police officer who has given three decades of his life in service to the city.

Branson Police Lt. E.J. Jones began his 30 years with the department on Sept. 25, 1995. Jones’ wife told those in attendance at the event the day was significant in his life not just because it was his first day with the city, it was his grandmother’s funeral which he missed to work his first day.

“His dad was OK with that,” she said. “His grandpa was OK with that. They knew how committed he was to this and how hard he had worked for it.”

Jones’ dedication to the job was the common thread in the people who spoke about his and his service to the city.
