While the rain over the month of May has done much to help drought conditions in both Arkansas and Missouri, there are still areas that are Abnormally Dry according to the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
In Arkansas, that includes areas east of Harrison including the eastern half of Boone County along with all of Marion and parts of Searcy Counties while in Missouri, that includes areas east of Branson including southeastern Taney County and most of Ozark County.
A recent report by Ozarks First indicates that despite several days of rain over the last few weeks, most areas still are around or below normal precipitation levels for the year.
The Drought Monitor indicates that areas Abnormally Dry do have elevated fire risks due to the dryer conditions.
