The latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor still shows most of the Lakes Region in Abnormally Dry Level while some surrounding areas has seen levels rise.
Areas just north of Springfield are now in a Severe to Extreme Drought level with areas of southern Kansas still also at an Extreme Level. Most of Arkansas continues to be at an Abnormally Dry Level or no drought at all.
The National Weather Service says that rainy conditions are expected with some area seeing up to two inches of rain over the next week.
The Lakes Area forecast calls for a rainy weekend before hot and dry conditions return next week.
