While the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates dryer conditions are creeping back into the Lakes Region, residents and visitors can enjoy a fall like weekend.
After the heavy rains in mid-July brought up the water levels in the region, Abnormally Dry Levels are being reported this week by the Drought Monitor in Barry County and the southwest two-thirds of Stone County in Missouri as well as in central and western Carroll County in Arkansas. While the rest of the area is not showing any drought level, the Buffalo National River as well as other waterways in the Lakes Region are at low levels.
Rain is in the forecast beginning Sunday for several days. Ahead of that, cooler temperatures are expected with readings in the 80s today and some areas only reaching the upper 70s for highs on Saturday.
