A recent training exercise for several groups of first responders included an unexpected rescue.
According to releases from the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District, their department along with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office and Central Crossing Fire Protection District of Shell Knob participated in Advanced Search and Rescue Techniques and Technology training at Dogwood Canyon Park in Lampe. The purpose of the training was to see how technology like drones and computer software can aid in Search and Rescue in the Ozarks Terrain.
The training took on a real-world application when a park staff member supporting a search team sustained an injury. According to the release, assets were redirected, and personnel promptly responded to the patient's location. The rescue did take some time according to the release due to the location of the injured person.
