A man is currently in the Ozark County Jail on accusations of chasing family members, firing a pistol and striking one in the head.
Samuel Deatherage Jr. is facing charges of first-degree assault, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
According to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, 911 dispatch received a call of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tecumseh in which a person was reported to have been shot in the head by a family member. The suspect, identified as Deatherage, was reportedly disarmed and held by family members until deputies arrived. He was later detained, and deputies performed first aid on the individual with the gunshot wound. The victim reportedly survived and was transported to an undisclosed hospital.
An investigation revealed Deatherage was intoxicated and got into a verbal argument. He allegedly armed himself with a pistol, chased seven victims, including three children, into the back yard and fired at them between 10 and 15 times. One of the bullets reportedly passed through the windshield of a vehicle parked in the yard. One of the victims was hiding behind the vehicle and was reportedly struck in the head by the bullet.
