Ozark County Has New Prosecuting Attorney

Tecumseh resident Matthew Weatherman has been sworn in as the new Ozark County Prosecuting Attorney.

Weatherman was appointed to the position by 44th Judicial Circuit Judge Craig Carter, according to an Ozark County Times report posted by KTLO. He is completing the remaining year of retiring Prosecutor John Garrabrant’s term. Garrabrant announced his retirement in October, effective December 1.

Garrabrant was first appointed to the position in 2016 by then-Governor Jay Nixon after longtime prosecuting attorney Tom Cline announced his retirement mid-term. Garrabrant ran for re-election in 2018, beating out challenger John Russo.

Weatherman has served as an assistant prosecutor in Howell County for the last two years. Before that, he was employed with the Missouri Public Defender’s office in Monett, Bolivar and Ava.
