The U.S. Census Bureau is about to announce where the population center of the United States is located.
According to an Associated Press Report, that center has been located in Missouri since 1980 and that is expected to stay the same.
The 2010 Population Center was in the Texas County Community of Plato, located approximately 80 miles northeast of Branson.
The A.P. Report says that calculations by Urban Planner Alex Zakrewsky, who predicated the location correctly 10 years ago, is predicting that center will move about 12 miles southwest of Plato putting the center into the northern portion of Wright County.
To calculate the center of the U.S., the Census Bureau figures out which spot would balance the population if put on an imaginary scale.
