A wildfire over the weekend spreads around 300 acres near Table Rock Lake.
According to a Facebook post from the U.S. Forest Service/Mark Twain Forest, the fire took place Saturday around the Cane Hollow area northeast of Shell Knob. Firefighters from the Central Crossing Fire Protection District were the first on the scene followed shortly by Mark Twain National Forest personnel. Fire personnel had the fire 90% contained by the end of Saturday and 100% contained during the day on Sunday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation according to the post.
Forest Service personnel join other agencies in discouraging outdoor burning during the current drought conditions in the region.
