John Creedon, age 90, passed away on August 17, 2025.
John Creedon, age 90, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away peacefully on his birthday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1935, in Whitehall, New York, to Lawrence Edward Creedon and Margaret Catherine (McManus) Creedon.
Born one of nine boys to a single mother during the Great Depression, John outlived all of his brothers. On November 27, 1976, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Pelissier Nolan of Northampton, Massachusetts, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage and built a loving family.
John graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1955 and went on to earn an accounting degree from the International Accounting Society in New York. He later studied business management at American River College and Franklin Pierce College. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, working on the hydrogen bomb project, and went on to work as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a truck driver, and an entrepreneur. With a restless drive and boundless ambition, he launched numerous businesses including gas stations, furniture stores, a print shop, a bar, and even an early laser printer repair company. Long before HGTV, he was flipping houses for impressive returns.
John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his children: Michael Creedon (Elaine) of Gardner, Massachusetts; Steven Creedon (Katrina) of Kirbyville, Missouri; Karen Terry (David) of Omaha, Arkansas; John Creedon Jr. (Reshma); and stepson, Patrick M. Nolan (Erin) of Kirksville, Missouri. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
On his 90th birthday, true to his persistent nature, John held on just long enough to prove everyone wrong. He spent his final days surrounded by Dorothy, his children, and grandchildren—just the way he would have wanted.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence or share a memory, please visit http://www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
