Mac Eugene Backerman, age 49, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2025.
He was born on February 10, 1976 and grew up in Lamar, Missouri. He was the beloved husband of Victoria (Dutson) Backerman and a devoted father to their two children, Zoey and Jacob, who were the center of his world. He was the cherished son of Gene and Becky (Knell) Backerman and the younger brother of Jennie (Chad) McManis.
Mac had a deep love for cooking, which led him to earn his Culinary Arts degree from Bridgerland Applied Technology Center in Logan, Utah. He later moved his family to Missouri, where he fulfilled a dream by operating a pizza shop. His creativity and care in the kitchen brought joy to many.
Driven by a passion for helping others, Mac returned to school to earn degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. He found his true calling in teaching, where his patience, warmth, and dedication made a lasting impact on the lives of his students and colleagues.
Mac was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. His faith was a guiding light, and he lived it through service, compassion, and quiet strength.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humor, and the way he made people feel seen and valued. Mac's legacy lives on in the lives he touched as a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria; their two children, Zoey and Jacob; his parents, Gene and Becky; his sister, Jennie and her husband Chad, and many extended family members and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 29, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lamar, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. President Adam Bourgeous will conduct the services. A celebration of life will follow.
