The Branson Board of Aldermen have voted to expand and diversify the city’s legal department.
The alderman passed a measure which provided a budget adjustment to the city’s general fund to allow up to $250,000 to be designated for the creation and operation of a litigation department. This would allow the city to have an in-house member of the city’s legal department who has expertise in litigation.
“City attorneys who specialize in municipal law are very hard to find,” Branson city Chief of Staff Alex Girard told Branson Tri-Lakes News. “That’s why we contracted with Lauber Law for our city attorney services. You’ll find cities with larger budgets contract with attorney firms because they can’t find someone with experience. It’s even harder to find litigation attorneys with a specialization in litigation.”
