The city of Branson will soon need to appoint another alderman to serve Ward II after Alderman Cody Fenton announced he will be stepping down from the position.
Fenton announced at the Tuesday, March 12, Board of Aldermen meeting he will be stepping down at the end of the month because he will be moving out of the ward.
“My wife and I have been talking for the better part of a year and a half about where we want to live long term,” Fenton told Branson Tri-Lakes News. “We’ve been renting our home here in Branson and we found an opportunity to buy a house. As you know, as an alderman you have to live within a specific ward, which severely restricts the possibilities for buying a home. I had an opportunity to buy a home, which unfortunately is not in the city limits. So the right thing to do is step down and allow someone who is qualified based on residency to serve.”
