Harrison is among the locations that will observe a day for Overdose Awareness next week.
Region Two Prevention Provider Chrissy Larchez joined KHOZ’s Around The Table on Friday to discuss International Overdose Awareness Day this coming Tuesday. Larchez said this year there will be an vigil event at Harrison City Park from 7:00 to 8:30 pm to reduce stigma of drug related death.
“We’re here to educate, to support,” Larchez said. She said the is life after addiction. She said the CDC recorded 81,000 overdoses in a 12 month period.
She added that when it comes to Fentanal, a lot of users do not even know they are consuming it because it is laced in other drugs. “Their main thing is, they’re bored,” Larchez said when mentioning this common response from kids as to why they use drugs.
The full show featuring Larchez is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page.
